Prior to his break up with Ruth Langsford, Eamonn Holmes entertained the idea of returning to Ireland to "marry a local girl". During an appearance on NVTV's Conversations With Gerry Kelly in November 2023, he opened up about having endured a tough few years, marked by losing his job, losing his mother, and his Belfast home.
He said: "Ruth wouldn't come back to Northern Ireland. Yes, because of her family and also because she's English and she sees life around London and things, whereas I can't stand London. So we have a different outlook on things like that." Finally, Eamonn delved into his health struggles, particularly citing the double-hip replacement surgery in 2016 and a mishap during a spinal operation in 2023, which left him using a wheelchair.
