The veteran breakfast TV presenter has been dealing with serious mobility issues following back surgery and mostly uses a wheelchair, although he can use a walker for short distances. Earlier this year, he spoke about his ongoing 'epidemic of pain' which has left him reliant on a walking stick and wheelchair. Eamonn admitted the 'harsh reality' could be that he may never walk alone again, reports the Express. His mobility issues sadly caused him to miss his beloved mother Josie's funeral in November 2023. At the time, he shared: 'It's as if somebody up there is playing with my life.' Eamonn also spoke to Gerry Kelly via the Irish Independent about his challenging year. He shared: 'In the past year I've had an operation on my back which went wrong and has confined me to a wheelchair. I've fallen and broken my shoulder. Honestly you could not make it up.' Despite the surgery initially easing some pain, he was later hit with the devastating reality that he might never walk again. 'I have tried every treatment, but you go, 'Maybe I'll never get out of it,' which is a harsh reality to face.'
