A screen at the New York Stock Exchange shows a news alert warning of a magnitude 4.8 earthquake in New York City on Friday morning , with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale, hit New York and New Jersey on Friday morning at a depth of 6.21 miles.
Tremors were experienced across the region, including in New York City, New Jersey, northern Pennsylvania and western Connecticut, according to Reuters journalists and social media. “I felt this vibration, and I was just like, where is that vibration coming from,” he said. “There’s no trains nowhere close by here or anything like that.”Mobile phones users received an emergency alert message warning of an earthquake in New York.
More than 30 minutes after the quake, New York City’s emergency notification system posted on social media that it had no reports of damage or injuries in the city.
