The man who has passed away in the fire has been described as a 'lovely and kind' person and a 'true gentleman'.

East Belfast Alliance councillor Ross McMullan said: "This is a devastating incident where the PSNI have confirmed that someone has tragically lost their life. As someone who lives just around the corner from Edenvale Crescent, I know that neighbours are shocked at what has happened. "I’d appeal to anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant they may think that information might be, to get in touch with the PSNI as it may be extremely useful with enquiries into what has tragically happened here."
