Police and ammunition technical officers at the scene of a security alert at Henry Jones Playing Fields in BelfastPolice are in attendance at a security alert after a "suspicious object" was found at the playing fields used by East Belfast GAA.In a statement, police said the road is closed between Manse Road and Ballygowan Road, with access to schools in the area available from Manse Road.
Traffic is building up in the area surrounding the Church Road, with particularly heavy traffic on the Ballygowan Road.The South Belfast MLA said: "It is absolutely disgraceful that police are attending a second security alert in two days at pitches used by East Belfast GAA. Each one of these incidents are despicable attempts to intimidate children and adults playing sport.
“Gaelic games continue to flourish across our community, the deplorable actions of a minority will not subvert this growth.”The Church Road in East Belfast has been closed between Manse Road and Ballygowan Road.PSNI statement
