The Rainbow Pregnancy Clinic brings together specialist care for parents who have experienced devastating loss and then become pregnant again
This is the name given to babies born following late miscarriage, stillbirth and early neonatal death. The Rainbow Pregnancy Clinic at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust was launched in 2019 to bring together specialist care for parents who have experienced devastating loss and then become pregnant again.
Women are offered specialist ultrasound scans, including a 23-week placental screen and regular growth scans, and the frequency of appointments are tailored to their needs. The milestone is particularly poignant as Rainbow Baby Day is commemorated today .Julie McNevin-Duff, Complex Fetal Care Midwife at the Trust’s Rainbow Pregnancy Clinic, said: "It is a privilege to care for the families we meet in Rainbow Clinic. A pregnancy after a previous loss is a very anxious time.
