Cindy Beale ( Michelle Collins ) returns to Walford after being in an induced coma following an attack on Christmas Day. The truth about her affair with former stepson Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) before her attack caused a rift in her family. Upon her discharge from the hospital, she is met with hostility from those she has wronged, including ex-fiancé Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) who refuses her request to move back into No. 45.
Peter Beale (Thomas Law) manages to secure a spare room for Cindy in Reiss Colwell's (Jonny Freeman) house, causing friction. Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) is also angry with Cindy as she implicated her in the attack to the police.
