The foundations have seemingly been laid for BBC One soap EastEnders to recreate an absolutely iconic storyline that aired in the 1990s.
The sneaking around could be exposed soon An innocent Freddie Slater could be the one to reveal Cindy Beale’s affair with Junior Knight in EastEnders. In an episode of the BBC One soap that aired in October, Cindy and David Wicks made their way to Beale’s Eels for a chat after David found Cindy and Junior kissing down the side of the pub. When they arrived, they found Anna Knight and Freddie hanging out with some bird recording devices.
Now these scenes have aired, fans of the soap can’t help but wonder if history may repeat itself during the 40th anniversary next February. Taking to social media platform X, users are curious as to whether the 90s storyline dubbed ‘Sharongate’ could air once more. Sharongate saw Grant discover Sharon’s affair with Phil via a tape recording. A similar structure was then repeated in 2007, when Stacey and Max’s affair was revealed via a clip from a DVD. So iconic.
