While appearing on The Criminal Connection podcast, Katie revealed that despite the strict no-smoking policy, June Brown , known to all as Dot Cotton , was allowed to light up on set.
Looking back at her whirlwind time, she remembered fondly: "106 episodes I did, and they gave me Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year episodes. I was very lucky." Podcast host Terry Stone, reflecting on his own cameo in the soap, brought up how June continuously smoked on set. Katie revealed: "Yeah she was the only one that was allowed!" Terry also highlighted that June's momentous career took off after she stepped into Dot's shoes, reports the Daily Star.
