EastEnders fans will remember Bobby Beale's shocking murder of his sister Lucy as one of the soap's biggest twists ever to air.
As a child, Lucy and her brothers Peter and Steven were fought over in a bitter custody battle which included Cindy hiring a hitman to bump off Ian, and Ian tracking Cindy to Italy with the help of the Mitchell brothers to snatch back his sons . As a teen, Lucy stepped into the centre of some of Walford's biggest dramas, with storylines including falling in with a bad crowd, bringing a gun into the house that accidentally shot Jane, a teen pregnancy and abortion, running away after a row with Ian, and cheating on her GCSEs.
She took on the cafe when Ian had a breakdown and left Walford for a while, renaming it Cindy's in honour of her mum, and not long before her death had set up a lettings agency with Lauren. Why did Bobby Beale murder his sister? Soap viewers were stunned to discover that the then 10-year-old half-brother of Lucy was actually her killer.
