Navin Chowdhry, the actor who portrayed the villainous Nish Panesar on EastEnders, reflects on his emotional departure from the soap opera.
EastEnders actor Navin Chowdhry has broken his silence on his 'emotional' last day on set as he leaves the BBC soap after playing evil Nish Panesar for two years. After Nish tried to get revenge on ex-wife Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), he didn't win his final battle after all and took a tumble to the ground from Suki and Eve's honeymoon suite balcony with his former spouse tied to him.
He was left bleeding out on the floor while Suki laid on top of him but Both Suki and Eve, who Nish poisoned, managed to survive the New Year's Day wedding carnage but the villain died and was seen being zipped up in a body bag during Thursday's (January 2) episode. While some viewers were left questioning whether or not Nish was actually dead, actor Navin has confirmed that's his said goodbye to his character for good. He said: 'It's been the most wonderful adventure that I could have hoped for. 'I can remember my first conversation with Chris Clenshaw when we were discussing having me on board, and the word that came up a couple of times in our chat about the character was 'explosive', and that's what appealed to me. Chris made some promises, and he and the team delivered.' 'I have loved it. My last day of filming was a very emotional one. God forbid if they put the behind the scenes footage out. There were tears from quite a lot of us on the day. I'm even feeling quite emotional talking about it now because it's meant so much to be a part of this journey.' Navin made his debut as Nish back in 2022 and he's been at the centre of several gripping storylines and the soap star has shared his favourite moments. He said: 'My favourite would have to be the Sixmas story. That was a flagship event for the whole show.
