Mixtitos Kitchen could close if sales don’t go dramatically up. Neighbors are getting the word out.

He’s a chef who has worked in some of Dallas’ best restaurants. His motto is “don’t give up.
Rodriguez, a father of four, calls Mixtitos “our fifth baby.” He co-owns it with his wife and sister-in-law and says he’s put all of his savings into the restaurant.“I’m in the deepest debt right now” trying to save the business, he said. He hasn’t been on the payroll since the restaurant opened.Mixtitos’ menu was inspired by Rodriguez’s wife,The fusion extends beyond Mexican and Japanese, however. Mixtitos also sells fish and chips, a schnitzel sandwich, shrimp cocktail and Buffalo wings.
A selection of dishes from Mixtitos Kitchen include cheesy chicken tacos, shellfish and seafood tempura, Japanese shepherd’s pie and veggie tempura.Rodriguez has seemingly done every restaurant job there is, from dishwasher to server to food runner to chef to general manager. “And I’ve cleaned the doors. And the floors,” he said.
