ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — It’s been almost 100 years since the last time Rochester saw a total solar eclipse, and it’s safe to say much has changed in the city since then. However, there are many things that have stayed the same, such as the natural curiosity that comes with the celestial phenomena.

“I think people in 1925 understood like we do today that this is a once in a lifetime phenomenon and one of the newspapers reported in this is a quote ‘The astronomical show thus will not play a return engagement within the lifetime of those now living,’,” said Ridarsky. “Shortly before the eclipse the clouds rolled in…all of these people who have been prepared to photograph and video or film the event were terribly disappointed,” said Ridarsky. “What people did report though was some beautiful sort of morning sunsets and you know they described the colors as being just phenomenal going from a light lilac gray to a purple to reds and yellows and oranges.”
