Tributes from the rugby world describe Butler as a 'superb player' and an 'iconic voice' in the game.
Thursday 15 September 2022 21:29, UKFormer Wales rugby captain and broadcaster Eddie Butler has died aged 65 while on a charity trek in Peru.
He died in his sleep on the country's Inca Trail, said Prostate Cymru - the charity Butler worked for as an ambassador.The Welsh Rugby Union paid tribute to a career that saw him play 16 internationals and captain his country six times.Butler had a short spell as a teacher and with a property company after he stopped playing, before establishing himself as a popular BBC commentator.
"Many of those who heard him may not have known he was a very fine player for Pontypool, Wales and the Lions. He was also very bright, had a sharp mind and wrote beautifully."
