Eddie Gossage, the former Texas Motor Speedway president and one of the most respected promoters in the history of auto racing, has died.
Eddie Gossage, one of the most respected administrators and promoters in the history of auto racing, has died.No cause of death was given, although a Fort Worth Star-Telegram report says that Gossage had been battling cancer.The news of Gossage's death was announced by the parent company of TMS Speedway Motorsports, the same group that named Gossage the General Manager at Texas Motor Speedway when the facility opened in 1996.
"Gossage turned Texas Motor Speedway into one of the finest tracks in America.He brought NASCAR to Fort Worth and built TMS into an entertainment powerhouse.A passionate promoter, Gossage spent plenty of time in the FOX 4 studio to bring more attention to the facility he helped build and cared so much about."The personality of Eddie Gossage rubbed some the wrong way and, frankly, if you said something on the air he didn't like, he'd let you hear about it.
