Former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan heads a consortium that has purchased London Irish Rugby Club from administration. The club faced suspension due to financial difficulties but now has a new ownership group committed to a swift return to professional competition and an innovative fan ownership model.

London Irish Rugby Club has been rescued from administration by a consortium led by former Formula 1 team owner and businessman Eddie Jordan . The club faced penalties for failing to meet payment deadlines or finalize a takeover, resulting in their suspension from all leagues. Jordan's group, known as 'The Jordan Associates,' aims for a rapid return to professional competition and pledges to implement an innovative fan ownership model, allowing supporters to invest in the club.

'The primary objective of the new ownership is to restore London Irish Rugby Club to the summit of international professional club rugby, striving for a swift return to elite-level competition,' the group stated. 'The Jordan Associates team will now concentrate on negotiating a complete and sustainable return for London Irish to competitive rugby, collaborating closely with London Irish's passionate supporter base.'Jordan Grand Prix, Eddie Jordan's F1 team, operated between 1991 and 2005, securing four victories between 1998 and 2003. 'We are tremendously excited about this opportunity to guide London Irish toward new heights,' declared Kyle Jordan, senior partner at Jordan Associates and Eddie Jordan's youngest son. 'Our investors provide not only financial backing but also a deep passion for rugby and a commitment to the community, particularly aiming to connect with the global Irish diaspora to cultivate the exile brand.' Eddie Jordan was a prominent television pundit during the BBC's coverage of F1 from 2009 to 2015. London Irish, with its historical home and training facility in Sunbury, southwest London, played at Reading Football Club's ground for two decades before relocating to Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium in west London in 2020. The new owners haven't revealed the club's future home ground but confirmed that its playing base will remain in west London.
