An Edinburgh hotel has issued an apology to a guest who wrote a scathing review saying their room was '12 inches from a concrete wall'. The disgruntled tourist, from London, said they visited with three friends and each paid £500 for their four-night stay at the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel during this year's Festival Fringe, but made clear they would not be returning in a hurry.
The guest's full rant read: "August in Edinburgh; the largest arts festival in the world; an opportunity to overload on shows of every genre and an opportunity for hotels to fleece their customers beyond anything they are likely to experience anywhere else in the world. "I like fresh air at night and therefore would have liked to have opened the window, but the deafening gush of air, reminiscent of a F14 fighter jet readying for take off, rather scuppered this idea.
Top news stories today Bosses at Apex have now apologised for the inconvenience caused by the air conditioning ducts and for not providing a "more suitable room initially". The hotel also offered a complimentary one-night stay as a gesture of goodwill. "Regarding the pricing, we acknowledge that the rates during the festival season are higher due to increased demand. However, we agree that this should not compromise the quality of service and comfort we offer.
