SUNDAY MAIL EXCLUSIVE: Wings Edinburgh has been named as a deliberate tax defaulter by HMRC.
The boss of a chicken restaurant pleaded with the public to give him money during the pandemic while his business owed nearly half a million pounds to the taxman.
But the Sunday Mail can reveal that the firm behind the restaurant – Wings Edinburgh Ltd – had failed to comply with its tax duties since opening in 2013. The chicken wings and hot sauce restaurant in Edinburgh’s Old Fishmarket Close has been deliberately failing to handle its taxes properly since the day it opened on May 14, 2013, with HMRC confirming it had done so until May 31, 2020.In a video for the crowdfunder in December 2020, Hepburn made a brief appearance and said there was “no secret millionaire owner here to save us”.
