A 20-year-old sun bear at Edinburgh Zoo has been put to sleep 'to prevent suffering' following a battle with cancer, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland has revealed.
Edinburgh Zoo has shared the "sad news" that one of its sun bears has been put to sleep following a battle with cancer.
Rotana arrived at Edinburgh Zoo in 2010, after he was found in a tiny cage within a private home in Cambodia. He was rehomed in Edinburgh as part of the RZSS's partnership with charity Free the Bears. One well-wisher shared: "RIP gorgeous Rotana, I will miss seeing on my zoo visits. Always loved watching you."
