Elba Career Academy becomes its own center

The State names Elba Career Academy its own center.

The Elba Career Academy works to improve the pipeline of classroom to career. ELBA , Ala. - The Elba Career Academy has always strived to get students ready for the future.

“We take great pride in getting our students ready to enter the workforce,” said Cristina Morgan, the Career Tech Coordinator for Elba City Schools. Since Morgan joined the team in 2010, the academy has worked to improve the pipeline of classroom to career.“We’re very excited about this,” said Morgan. “It gives us the opportunity to hire a full-time director and career counselor.”

Being able to hire these positions means more hands-on interaction with students and less stress on the current staff. “The counselor will be able to manage all of the career academy classes,” said Morgan. “It will alleviate pressure off the high school counselors as well.”“We currently service Elba city schools from 8-12, and we do Coffee County students from 12:30-3,” said Morgan. “With the change, it’ll open up their schedules, and have more students to come over.”“These students are employable the moment they leave our system,” said Morgan.
