An elderly couple who were found dead at their home on New Year's Eve in a ' suspected murder-suicide ' have been pictured for the first time. The bodies of Michael and Heather Newton, both in their 70s, were found in their £800,000 house at 11.35am on Tuesday. Police are now launching an investigation into the double death in Lilliput near Poole Harbour in Dorset .
A green Jaguar S-type car with a personalised number plate and a silver Honda car, also with a personalised plate, were parked on the driveway of their property. An older-style speedboat was also seen on the drive of the cream-painted large detached house as well as a police car. Dorset Police have begun an investigation to establish the circumstances behind the deaths, although nobody else is believed to have been involved. Their next of kin have been informed, as well as the Dorset coroner. Residents in the area have spoken of their shock after learning about the couple's death, with one person saying it is 'very unsettling'. I didn't know them personally, but it is very sad, and my thoughts go out to their loved ones.'
