Merseyside Police has called its first press conference since Mr Cox, 19, was found with fatal gunshot injuries on Sunday night
in Aintree at around 11.10pm on Sunday, June 23. After originally being treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service paramedics, he was rushed to hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Mr Cox's shooting was the second fatal gun discharge on Merseyside this year. Despite an extensive police presence in both areas of Merseyside, who continue to carry out CCTV and door-to-door enquiries, there is currently no indication as to who committed the senseless shooting and why Mr Cox was killed.
"Every day our officers are carrying out warrants, open land searches and stop and searches to remove guns and other weapons from our streets. We target all available resources in the right areas to remove weapons and those who use them and work daily alongside our partners and in communities affected by gun crime.
