It’s hard to watch the news or pick up a paper without coming across a discussion on how Keir Starmer ought to handle
A sign of the pair’s closeness came this week in the celebration photos from Team Trump after his clear victory. The president-elect posed alongside his family – including his son Donald Trump Jr and his grandson Donald Trump III. The only non-family member in the picture was Elon Musk along with his four-year-old son X. Trump’s granddaughter Kai posted the image along with the caption “the whole squad”.
Starmer and his team then decided to adopt a “do not engage” strategy – hoping the whole thing would die down. That hasn’t stopped Musk who now offers regular commentary on what Starmer is doing wrong. The latest is Starmer and Reeves’s inheritance tax raid on farmers – with Musk telling Starmer to leave the farmers alone. Even his dad Erroll has got in on the action – this week he accused Starmer of being a “fascist” and suggested the UK is headed for the abyss.
She went on: “I look at Twitter before he took over and after: there is a lot more free speech. Yes, there are many, many more things that I see on X, as he calls it, that I don’t like. But I also know that views are not suppressed the way that they were, that there was a cultural establishment – that was very left – that controlled quite a lot of discourse on that platform.”In contrast, Starmer’s chief of staff Morgan McSweeney co-founded the Centre for Countering Digital Hate.
