Emergency Services scrambled to the A719 at the B739, Monkton at around 4pm following reports that a light aircraft had crashed. Two causalities have been taken to hospital. Their condition is not currently known.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have also confirmed their attendance at the scene where they remain at present. Two appliances were sent to the area near Monkton as well as heavy rescue equipment. Operations control mobilised two appliances and heavy rescue equipment to the scene. Crews remain in attendance. Two casualties have been passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The Mirror contacted Prestwick Airport, which said Police Scotland is leading the operation. The collision happened near, and not at, the airport so scheduled departures and arrivals are thought to be unaffected.
