Emergency warnings have been issued for fires burning near Tenterfield and Tabulam in New South Wales (NSW), Stanthorpe in NSW, and south of Bundaberg in Queensland (QLD).
Emergency warnings are in place for fires burning near Tenterfield and Tabulam , NSW ; Stanthorpe , NSW ; and south of Bundaberg , QLD .Practices at Queensland's forensics lab were "appalling and reckless", forensic scientist Dr Kirsty Wright told a commission of inquiry today.
"I simply didn't consider it a possibility that a laboratory would have implemented a method knowing that it had yield issues," she said. Shandee Blackburn was murdered in February 2013. Dr Wright said she expected the implementation of the 123 recommendations made in his report would take some time. Head of the state-run facility Adjunct Professor Linzi Wilson-Wilde said progress was being made, particularly on clearing the backlog of samples.She noted there had been difficulties in hiring staff.
