Emma Stone was overcome with emotion as she received the accolade for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 96th Academy Awards and broke down in tears on stage
Emma Stone, who portrayed Bella Baxter in Poor Things, burst into tears as she took to the stage to receive an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Emma, 35, began crying as she thanked director Yorgos Lanthimos for casting her in Poor Things before blaming Ryan Gosling for causing her dress to break.Emma said: "My dress is broken, I think it happened during I'm Just Ken." "I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member with every crew member who poured their love and care and their brilliance into the making of this film." After thanking her family, she saved her final thanks for "my daughter, who is going to be three in three days and who turned our whole lives technicolour".
The gong marked Emma's second Oscars win after she took home the award for 2019 film La La Land. She joins the list of women to win best actress two or more times along with Katherine Hepburn, Frances McDormand, Ingrid Bergman and Bette Davis.
