Georgia Jay left the ITV soap last year for maternity leave
Emmerdale actress Beth Cordingly sent a 'younger me' message to on-screen daughter Georgia Jay as the latter posted a behind the scenes tease of her latest project.
Beth Cordingly made her Emmerdale debut as Ruby Miligan two years ago in January 2024. She was introduced as Caleb Miligan's wife who had joined the ITV soap two years prior as Cain Dingle's long lost brother. Ruby entered the village as a fiery character, quick to put others in their place if needs be.
However, things soon shifted for the villager as 2024 came to a close and her estranged father Anthony Fox arrived in the village with Ruby and Caleb's daughter Steph Miligan. Click here to get the biggest stories straight to your inbox in our Daily Newsletter While appearing uncomfortable around her father, harrowing flashbacks later showed that Ruby had been the victim of abuse at the hands of Anthony.
In episodes which followed, Anthony died after being beaten up by Aaron Dingle before Ruby stopped him from breathing by covering his mouth. Although they swore to keep his death a secret, Steph soon learned the truth - and also that Anthony was her biological father. From the moment she found out, Steph began to spiral and struggled to look at herself without seeing Anthony.
She even went as far as to consider plastic surgery, booking a consultation for a nose job until Ruby and Caleb rushed in to stop her. Last year, Steph left the village behind for a while, and in real life actress Georgia Jay had left for maternity leave. She confirmed the birth of her first child earlier this year.
While the actress has been met with pleas to return to the ITV soap, there have been unconfirmed rumours that she won't be reprising her role. However, taking to her Instagram, Georgia posted a few snaps of her behind the scenes of filming. She wrote: 'Just BTS things' as Beth then commented: 'Sometimes when I see a picture of you - for a minute - I think it’s an old pic of a younger me ! Lucky me!!!!!!
' Since her Emmerdale exit, Georgia was seen on viewers screen again as she starred in ITV's The Hack. The series focused on the phone hacking scandal that rocked the nation. Set between 2002 and 2012, the drama interweaves two real life stories. Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and is also available to stream on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
