Emmerdale actor DannyBMiller and fiancée Steph Jones introduce baby Albert and detail newborn's arrival
Emmerdale actor Danny Miller and his fiancée Steph Jones recently welcomed their first child together and told of the "happiness" their new arrival had brought them.
And on 25 October at 9.16am their dreams came true when midwife Steph welcomed their adorable son Albert Miller into the world, weighing 6lb 11oz. The couple, both 30, first met in primary school and have been in a relationship for two years. They got engaged last January. Here, they tell OK! about Albert’s arrival, well wishes from Danny’s co-stars, and the sweet meaning behind their little boy’s name.Danny: It’s been amazing. We’ve had a real whirlwind of emotions. Getting him home was the biggest realisation that it’s just the three of you.
Then she came back and we went into hospital at about 3pm on the Sunday. Once we got to the hospital I started in the birthing pool but I wasn’t progressing past 4cm [dilation] so they had to break my waters, which meant getting out.Steph: I was put on a hormone drip to progress the labour as by that point I’d been 4cm for hours.
So when Steph said to the new midwife, “Can you get me 100mg,” I said to her, “Do you think we should try her on 50mg first?” As I’d seen Steph’s reaction after the first 50mg!As a midwife, did it feel strange to be on the other side of things, Steph? They really made me feel a part of it. Dads can sometimes be elbowed out, but I did a lot of research so I felt part of the team helping to get the baby out, which was amazing. Were you using any techniques you share with mums to get through labour, Steph?
Watching her become a mum as I was becoming a dad was something I’d never be able to buy. It’s priceless.Danny: Yeah, I was like a baby myself! I was in bits. I was very emotional. Steph: A lot of the time the midwife was able to check on me at home but I did have to have some fluids and they had to check my iron levels.Danny: Yeah. I know it sounds a cliché but I keep calling him a miracle baby, and in a way he is. But either way if he’d come naturally or through IVF we really didn’t care, we just knew we were destined to be a mum and dad.Steph: It feels like he was really meant to be. When he arrived it was overwhelming as we’d waited so long for him.
And it was really nice to hear from Elizabeth Estensen. We’re very close and she left the show last week and I didn’t get to see her before she went.
