Emmerdale's Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley calls for 'simple' but big change to murder storyline
Long-standing Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley has called for a big change to his character amid an ongoing murder storyline.
Jeff has admitted he would quite like Cain Dingle to not have a "nemesis all the time". The Dingle family member was thought to be responsible for the death of businessman Al Chapman, but it was later revealed that his son, Kyle Winchester, had fired the gun. Cain pleaded guilty to the murder of Al Champman in order to save his son.
Kyle waits to hear what will happen to him, and although Cain is now out of prison he isn't able to see his son. Following is calling soap writers to make a change to his character amid the soap's dramatic storylines as of late, Mirror Online reports.Speaking to Digital Spy, Jeff said: "I don't think he needs a nemesis all the time! I think it would be nice to not have that for a while, to be honest - but I think they always like to put somebody against Cain.
Jeff feels Cain hasn't learned much from his time inside - but is always hopeful there's "new pathways" ahead. He added: "If I'm speaking honestly as me playing the character, I don't think he's learned much from his time inside so far! But I hope to see some lessons and a change because of his actions. Fingers crossed that creates new pathways for him.
"His DNA is always going to be there. He's always going to react in situations. But I do think big things like this hopefully should teach us lessons - and if they don't, we're not going to better ourselves, are we? History is there for a reason."Read next:
