Jane Cox played the beloved role of Lisa Dingle on Emmerdale for a whopping 23 years before her shock exit in 2019. Her character was known for her warm heart and resilience in the face of adversity, so her exit was a devastating blow for fans.
In scenes that left viewers reaching for tissues, Lisa revealed to Charity that she had been diagnosed with a terminal heart condition called amyloidosis. After returning from a trip to Scotland, she broke the news to the rest of her family, reports the Daily Star. Sharing the reason behind her exit, Jane said she wanted to get out there and find new opportunities. She told The Mirror: "It is completely life-changing, but I decided I wanted to do different things."
She also admitted that the demanding schedule of the show was starting to wear her down. "It is long, long days and then you don't have time in the evenings because you have lines to learn for the next day," she confessed.
