Emmerdale actress Caroline Harker is leaving the ITV soap after a year
An Emmerdale actress is departing the ITV soap following a contentious storyline. Caroline Harker is bidding farewell to her role as the villainous Dr Caitlin Todd after spending a year on the programme.
The 59 year old actress has relished portraying the character, with audiences closely following her involvement in workplace bullying scenarios. Dr Todd has been depicted harassing Jacob Gallagher at their workplace, while also resorting to blackmailing Charity Dingle.have progressively intensified, with the doctor set to feature in a sexual assault plot. The distressing scenes will show her assaulting Charity, marking some of her final appearances in the Dales.
A source revealed to The Sun: "Caroline has loved her time at Emmerdale but it's time to move on. She always knew playing such an evil character came with a shelf life but she's leaving with many fond memories.
" They continued: "Caroline only came in on a short term contract, and knew she would never stay long-term. ", reports The specifics of her departure date and final storyline remain under wraps, though she's not the sole cast member making an exit. Olivia Bromley, Nick Miles and Bradley Johnson are all scheduled to leave the show later this year. Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw has recently hinted at some distressing scenes on the horizon for Vinny Dingle, portrayed by Bradley.
It appears the actor's seven-year stint on the soap will conclude in spectacular fashion. Reports suggest Vinny's harrowing history, particularly the torment inflicted by his abusive father Paul, is set to resurface. This emotional turmoil is expected to be sparked by the entrance of Kev Townsend, the father of Vinny's partner Lewis Barton. In conversation with Inside Soap magazine, Laura revealed that Vinny will find it difficult to connect with Kev.
She explained: "What we need to remember is the relationship that Vinny had with his own father, Paul, who was quite abusive.
"It brings a lot back for Vinny because Kev is slightly wild, edgy and can be unpredictable. Vinny's quite nervous about Lewis having a relationship with Kev, because he reminds him of Paul.
" Separately, speculation emerged that Nick's character Jimmy would meet a tragic end in heartbreaking scenes, sparking fury amongst viewers. The reported departures have been attributed to a reduction in episode numbers.
