CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Labor and Employment has reminded employers to observe the proper payment of wages for workers who will report to work on the declared holidays of October and November.DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma signed Labor Advisory No. 24, Series of 2023 which specifies the proper wage computation for the declared special days on October 30, November 1, and November 2.
The advisory noted that wages of employees who will work on the said holidays should have additional 30 percent of the basic wage on the first eight hours of work. An additional 30% on the hourly rate shall also be added as an overtime pay for those who will exceed the eight-hour work. If the employee did not work, the “no work, no pay” principle shall apply, unless there is a favorable company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement granting payment on a special day, DOLE said.
