Interim England boss Lee Carsley has named his first squad for upcoming games against Ireland and Finland.
The Three Lions head to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 7 September before returning to Wembley Stadium three days later for the visit of Finland in the Nations League. Carsley is naming his first squad since taking over on an interim basis from previous manager Gareth Southgate, who led England to two finals during his time in charge, but resigned after losing to Spain at the end of this summer's Euros. Four players have received call-ups for the first time.
' But on the new faces, he added: 'I thought it was important we put some fresh faces in and put our mark on the squad.' Carsley insisted he had not thought about his long-term prospects for the England job despite being given the role on an interim basis for the whole autumn period.
