The inclusion of England's Kyle Walker in the official Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament has been mocked on social media despite the Manchester City man reaching the final with the Three Lions
England and Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker earned a place in the Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament – but many football fans feel he is undeserving of the accolade.
Many England fans took aim at Walker over his apparent defensive weaknesses that some claimed cost them in big moments across Euro 2024, such as his failure to stop Marc Cucurella's cross for Spain's winner in the final and how he lost Breel Embolo in the box for Switzerland's goal against England in the quarter-finals.
Another commented saying: "Walker? Was he picked by someone who never watched any games?" And a final one put: "Kyle Walker? Do me favour, was at fault for both goals in the final." Spain beat England 2-1 in Berlin, meaning the Three Lions have now lost two European Championship finals back to back, after they came up short against Italy at Wembley in Euro 2020.
The 34-year-old's inclusion in the Team of the Tournament comes from a panel of 12 'technical observers', including former West Ham boss David Moyes, United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez. Premier League players Cucurella, William Saliba, Rodri and Manuel Akanji also made the cut, while Dani Olmo, Fabian Ruiz, Yamal and Williams added to a hefty Spanish contingent.
