England will face Afghanistan in their ICC Champions Trophy match despite calls for a boycott from politicians and activists. Over 160 politicians urged the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to withdraw from the fixture in Lahore, citing the Taliban regime's suppression of women's rights, including the effectively outlawed participation in sport. The ECB, however, maintains that a coordinated international response is the most effective way to address the situation.
