Gradual decline in Covid-19 cases The number of new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the UK has fallen to the lowest level since lockdown began, with the daily number dropping below 1,000 earlier this week for the first time since March. Infections have fallen steadily from a peak in April, but Britain is still recording more new cases than other big European nations. As of 23 June, 8,309,929 tests had been carried out in total, of which 306,210 were positive.
