Jamie Gittens stole the headlines in the Champions League on Wednesday night (September 18) as he scored a late brace for Borussia Dortmund against Club Brugge
Jamie Gittens is making a name for himself in the world of club football after departing the Manchester City academy.
Born in 2004, the 20-year-old joined the German giants four years ago after a two-year stint at Man City's academy. His time in Manchester didn't last long as he decided to opt for a change in scenery in 2020 to join Borussia Dortmund, following in the footsteps of ex-Man City youth product Jadon Sancho who made the identical move three years prior.
Instead, he opted to stay at Under-9s level with Reading - where he grew up - as he remained at the club for the next five years, reports the Mirror. After staying with Reading until Under-14s level, Gittens then began his two-year stint with City. Echoing Jadon Sancho's earlier path from Manchester to Germany, the winger has certainly not regretted his move in search of first-team football. Since joining Borussia Dortmund, he's had an impressive start to his career with 63 matches, netting nine goals and eight assists.
