The agency says it will provide 30 more officers to investigate water pollution across the region.

The Environment Agency has announced there will be 30 extra officers in the East of England who will focus on investigating pollution incidents by the water industry.

Robin Price, the director of environment and water quality at Anglian Water, told the BBC: "It will be about increasing the capacity of our sewer network so building bigger tanks, bigger sewers." Sewage discharges by water companies and faeces from pets and birds in the water around Southend were some of issues raised at the summit.Thorpe Bay, Essex, had lost its blue flagMr Haider said "this year Westcliff looks like it might lose its blue flag status. We are having issues with E. Coli , nobody is quite sure why".
