ERCOT: As August temperatures soar this week, Texas grid conditions show stability so far.
Texas’ heat dome could raise statewide power demand Thursday afternoon to the highest level it’s seen this summer — but probably not high enough to beat last year’s all-time record of 85,500 megawatts. The Electric Reliability of Texas’ real-time forecast shows that power demand could surpass 84,000 megawatts Thursday around 5 p.m.
’s forecast suggested — likely because of demand-response programs that encourage big users to reduce their use at times when power is its most expensive.
