Polls closed at 5pm local time and the gap was expected to narrow as large ballot boxes are opened in cities. Opposition broadcaster HalkTV showed Mr Kilicdaroglu having the edge with 51.04 per cent of the votes, with about 48 per cent of the ballot boxes opened, based on separate data.
