Man United manager Erik ten Hag could soon face a selection problem, courtesy of one of his summer signings making a strong start to life in England.
On paper, Noussair Mazraoui was arguably the most unattractive of Manchester United's five summer signings.
Deployed at right-back for the fourth game running on Saturday, Mazraoui, who previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, produced a solid account of himself. As well as being defensively sound, he also displayed signs of being confident enough to venture into attacking positions. He was also strong in his challenges, winning more than half of his ground duels. Defensively he was very astute.
Dalot, despite being forced to play at left-back several times in the last couple of seasons, has struggled to deliver the goods so far this season. He went missing against Liverpool and he could not handle the threat of Dibling at St Mary's. Shaw, despite his injury problems, is still considered as United's first-choice left-back, and it goes without saying that Ten Hag is a huge fan. Once the England international is deemed fit enough to start, he will do.
