Erik ten Hag has reacted to his Manchester United sacking for the first time in an emotional open letter written to supporters.
The 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Sunday, during which United conceded a controversial late penalty to lose the game, turned out to be his final match in charge.On Friday, the club announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach, with the 39-year-old staying at current club Sporting Lisbon until he takes charge at Old Trafford on November 11.
But now, he has penned an open letter to fans to thank them for their support during his time at Old Trafford. "The atmosphere at Old Trafford has always been electrifying, thanks to you. I felt it many times. Also in away games, it gave the team and me an incredible feeling to hear the United chants taking over the opponents' stadiums, whether the game was in England, Europe or during the summer tours."
"I want to thank you for giving me this feeling and for your support. I also want to thank the staff in every department for their unwavering support in good times and bad."Of course, my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet. Unfortunately, that dream has come to an end.
