Man United's start the season has been dismal and there is growing pressure around Erik ten Hag's position at the club.
Erik ten Hag stood motionless on the touchline as Lewis Hall scored Newcastle's second at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Newcastle winning with their second string made it worse. Eddie Howe named a team with seven players that haven't started a Premier League game this season and they comfortably defeated an embarrassing United side. This film has been seen before and spoilers for the ending are available. It doesn't seem to matter who the movie star is at the club because the script is bound to be the same with the Glazers as the film's directors.
The players hung Mourinho out to dry and they turned against Solskjaer. There is discontent among some with Ten Hag and although the manager is certainly not blameless, the same players can't get away with it again. It's understood his position is not under immediate threat, but there is recognition that results must improve quickly. Fulham, Copenhagen and Luton are next and he's expected to survive to the November international break.
There have been a few reactionary takes calling for Ten Hag to lose his job on social media, however, the majority of supporters are exhausted of the tired managerial cycle and they want the purgatory to end.
