Australia's eSafety commissioner Julie Inman Grant has claimed she was the victim of death threats and her children were doxxed in the wake of her failed legal stoush with X chairman Elon Musk .
Musk mocked the commissioner's attempts to remove the content from the platform, referring to her as the"Australian censorship commissar". Speaking to Sky News host Laura Jayes on Thursday, Ms Inman Grant claimed she had been subject to abuse following her public battle with the tech billionaire. Ms Inman Grant's legal battle was widely condemned for trying to censor what content Australians are allowed to see in a case that was always going to be challenging to win.
Her public remarks were slammed by The Institute of Public Affairs’ director of law and policy John Storey at the time, who argued the commissioner had to be"absolutely neutral and unbiased" as it was"inappropriate" to be as vocal as she had been. “And everything she has said particularly in this comment suggests she is partisan and not apolitical.”
