Christian Isaiah Carter is charged with knowingly driving while his license is suspended, aggravated fleeing and eluding, grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the ECSO said. The agency also said Carter had active warrants from another state for felony escape, aggravated assault, terrorist threats and acts and criminal trespassing.
On Monday Escambia County deputies responded to the area of I-10 and Davis Highway for the report of a stolen vehicle. When deputies found the stolen blue Chevy Tahoe, they initiated a stop, but the driver -- Carter -- fled at high speeds, driving through a red light, officials said. After a short chase, the SUV veered off the street, hitting a street sign at the intersection of West Burgess Road and Maxam Street.
