Jules Hudson, the much-loved BBC presenter from Escape to the Country, Springtime on the Farm, and Countryfile, has had his fair share of financial woes, including a whopping £60,000 loss due to scammers and the pandemic. Despite being a familiar face on our telly for nearly two decades, Jules enjoys a peaceful life away from the limelight in Herefordshire with his wife, Tania Fitzgerald, and their son Jack.
In a candid chat with The Times back in 2020, Jules revealed his need for the tranquillity of the countryside over the hustle and bustle of London life. "I found London very claustrophobic. There's an energy about it that I absolutely love, but I need green fields and space. We knew what we were looking for - something with space, something with outbuildings. And having its own plot was really important to me", reports the Express.
Despite his success, Jules has faced his share of financial worries, especially during the height of the pandemic. He opened up to The Scottish Mail in 2020 about the significant hit to his wallet, calling the experience 'financially devastating' as he saw 'a lot of expected income' disappear. "I once bought a quad bike for £1,600 on eBay thinking it was too good to be true and it was. I was ripped off by a scammer in Spain," he shared. "I transferred the money directly into his account and learnt a hard lesson. That bike never existed."
