The record-breaking Colombian superstar wants to redefine the Latin experience and bring reggaeton to the masses.
What are your reflections on the Pepsi Super Bowl performance?
“It was one of my happiest memories, representing the Latino culture, the Latino gang. It was such a blessing that we had the chance to create this new statement for reggaeton and Latino culture. We want to elevate the culture and to show that we’re global, our sound is global. We want to keep making statements about, the culture. Let’s think about the fact that this was a show made by immigrants — that itself has a powerful meaning. I hope it won’t be forgotten.
“I wanted young people buying the physical album to have their own piece of Murakami and for lots of people to have their first contact with art.”“He’s an amazing artist and it’s beautiful to see someone big stay so humble. I used to dream of having a piece by him and now we’re friends and we work together. I like to make things different. The same with fashion, which I love too, it’s all expression, it’s all art.
