EU could 'force PM to hold second referendum' or soften Brexit as the price for delay
Brussels bosses are meeting to discuss a Brexit extension in the coming days - Donald Tusk with Mark Rutte todayCouncil President Donald Tusk met Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte earlier today, and will discuss it with Germany's Angela Merkel and France's Emmanuel Macron on Monday.Already France has demanded that any delay must be for a specific reason, and hinted they could block it.
And EU boss Guy Verhofstadt has already said that there shouldn't be a delay if no outcome comes from it.- in the hope that Brexit is softened or there's then time for another referendum. Mrs May is said to have been warned about possible conditions for extending Article 50 in her recent talks with EU leaders.If they pass it, then she'll ask them for a short extension to pass the laws needed.
