HURRICANE LORENZO is set to lash the Azores with torrential rains, waves up to 70 feet and gusts of winds reaching 100 mph as the Portuguese islands go into lockdown ahead of the expected landfall.
The National Hurricane Center based in Miami, Florida, expects the eye of Lorenzo to pass near the western Azores in the early hours of Wednesday morning and authorities have ordered the closure of all non-essential public services.
