Louise Haigh said the move comes as part of plans to improve Euston for passengers

The huge advertising board at London Euston will be switched off with 'immediate effect' in a bid to tackle overcrowding, after a request by the transport secretary.

Louise Haigh MP has told Network Rail the massive 60 metre screen, which was installed in January and is Europe's largest indoor advertising screen, must go amid mass criticism from passengers and watchdogs. It comes after London TravelWatch said the station was 'struggling to cope' when services were delayed. London Euston connects the English capital to other major cities including Manchester, Birmingham, and Liverpool.Ms Haigh said she has tasked Network Rail with producing a 'clear plan' to improve Euston for passengers - which today's move forms one part of.The transport secretary said: “For too long, Euston station simply hasn’t been good enough for passengers.

"We know Euston needs a permanent solution and are working hard to agree this – but these immediate steps will help to alleviate some of the issues the station has been facing.”
